Exploring Prickly Cider: Tips

Have you spent time exploring PricklyCider.com? Not just reading the latest article but looking at the various pages. There are a lot of articles (I have over 300 and counting). I realize that this can make it a little challenging to find the article or topic you are seeking. One option is to use the search feature on the site. Simply type what you are looking for in the search box. I added one below for your convenience and even included my favorite subject: Non-Saccharomyces.

Another method to find information is to use the pages. I have created pages to section the articles into different groups. These pages are found through the menu at the top of each page. I also include links in some articles. For example, articles about hard cider recipes have links to the recipe pages, which you might have already explored. Many articles also have links to The Shop and Recommended Products page. This is where you can find products that I recommend. You can help support Prickly Cider by buying items through my links. Remember, you don’t pay more for it. I just get a small commission for directing you to the product. This page also has a link to my Cider Yeast page. These are non-Saccharomyces yeast strains that I have propagated from the USDA culture center. If you want to inoculate with cider yeasts, those naturally found of the fruit, so you can better control the results, these might be of interest.

Another page, and the focus of this article, is the one with Cider Tips. You may not go there regularly. However, I want to encourage you to check it out. All the articles that provide insights and tips about the cider-making process can be found on these pages. The tips are sorted by different stages of the cider-making process and each one has its own page. Instead of scrolling or searching through hundreds of articles, just go to the tips page that covers the area of interest. Have a question about grafting? You should go to the Trees and Orchard Tips page. What about questions regarding aging your cider? Go to the Aging, Color, and Maturation Tips page. I’ve tried to break the pages down into common groupings. Clicking on the section name will take you to that page and show you the various tip articles associated with that topic.

The newest tips section is the one for Non-Saccharomyces Yeast. I have been doing a lot of research and experiments with non-Saccharomyces yeast strains. I find they produce exceptional ciders, more like those you get from wild/natural fermentations. But, they offer greater control and more consistent results. Try some for yourself. You can find out what strains I have available on the Cider Yeast page located in The Shop.
